Adjacent to the pier, here comes the Tai O Heritage Hotel, formerly the Old Tai O Police Station built in 1902. The building was revitalised as a boutique hotel and was rated a Grade 2 historic building in 2009.
A 20-minute walk along the Tai O Nature Trail will lead you to the breathtaking Fu Shan Viewing Point which offers a splendid view of the opposite shore and the impressive Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge.
Tai O is home to the Tanka people, a community who have built their houses on stilts above the tidal flats of Lantau Island for generations. These stilt houses are interconnected, forming a tightly knit community that lives on the water.
