Ma Wan Chung Pier is situated at Ma Wan Chung Village on Lantau Island in Islands District and to the west of Tung Chung. At present, the nearby villagers and fishermen mainly use the pier to load or unload their catch. They also moor their fishing boats alongside the pier.

Learn moreOn a hill slope facing the sea near Tung Chung Pier, there is the remains of a battery that has an L-shaped wall with a platform at the corner. It is believed that the ruin is one of the two forts built in 1817. It was declared a monument in 1983.
Hau Wong Temple, Tung Chung is located at Sha Tsui Tau and dedicated to Hau Wong. It was rated a Grade 2 historic building in 2010. There is an old bell inscribed with the characters “the 30th year of the Qianlong era” (1765).
Built in 1832, Tung Chung Fort has quite a history. During World War II, it was occupied by the Japanese troops, after which, it served as a police station and then a college. The fort today still reserves six old muzzle-loading cannons and Chinese archways. It was declared a monument in 1979.
